State Police investigate serious crash in Rodman

On October 14, 2024, at about 2:20 a.m., State Police Watertown responded to County Route 155 in the town of Rodman for a personal injury accident.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2017 Nissan Sentra operated by Chase K. Obrien, age 24, from Watertown, NY, was traveling south on County Route 155 at an unsafe speed and went off the western shoulder of the roadway, striking a utility pole.

Obrien, was transported to Samaritan Medical Center by South Jefferson Rescue Squad and is listed in critical condition.

Two passengers of the vehicle, Austin C. Sunderland, age 20, from Sackets Harbor, NY, and Matthew A. Grimshaw, age 17, from Adams, NY, declined medical attention on scene and went to Samaritan Medical Center on their own for evaluation.

Charges are pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
