Valentina Matvienko and Dmitriy Kobitskiy Discussed Upcoming IPA CIS Events

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko and Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy discussed preparations for the upcoming events of the Assembly. The meeting took place today at the organisation's headquarters.

On 18 September, the Tavricheskiy Palace will open its doors to 1,500 guests from 120 countries - delegates of the IV Eurasian Women's Forum. The congress event will last three days and will bring together women parliamentarians, representatives of international organisations, executive authorities, academia and business circles, the arts, and prominent public figures.

The IPA CIS Council Secretariat is also actively preparing for the events of the autumn session of the Assembly. On 21-22 November, a session of the IPA CIS Council, the 57th Plenary Session of the IPA CIS, as well as sessions of the IPA CIS permanent commissions will be held.

On the eve of the autumn session, the international forum "Commonwealth of Fashion" will be held, which for the third time will bring together representatives of light industry and fashion from the countries of the CIS region on the platform of the IPA CIS.

The International Tourism Forum Travel Hub "Commonwealth" will also take place at the end of October. For the first time it will be an offsite event - the discussion of topical issues of tourism development in the CIS will be held in Dushanbe.

Dmitriy Kobitskiyinformed Valentina Matvienko that in the coming days a group of the IPA CIS international observers will go to the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate in monitoring the parliamentary election scheduled for 1 September. The group of observers includes MPs from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, representatives of the Assembly and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).

First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin will coordinate the work of the IPA CIS international observer group at the election.

Preparations have also begun for monitoring the election to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. An invitation to take part in the monitoring of the election campaign came from Chair of the CEC of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev.
