Montana State announces 2024 Homecoming Week events

BOZEMAN - Montana State University's traditional Homecoming Week will begin Monday, Sept. 30, and culminate with the football game against the University of Northern Colorado on Saturday, Oct. 5.

This year's Homecoming theme is "Bobcat Boots and Big Sky Roots." MSU and the MSU Alumni Foundation will host events throughout the week for students, community members, alumni and fans on campus and around Bozeman to spread the Bobcat spirit and build MSU pride.

The event lineup:

Monday, Sept. 30

  • Go 'Cats Lighting at North and South Hedges - 8:30 to 9 p.m. Join University Student Housing and the Office of Student Engagement for the tradition at the high-rise residence halls.

Tuesday, Oct. 1

  • Concert on the Mall at the Malone Centennial Mall - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Career Fair Internship Networking Event at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse - 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

  • Career Fair at the Fieldhouse - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Employers will present internship and career opportunities to students.
  • Campus barbecue and Spirit of the West marching band performance on the Malone Centennial Mall - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 3

  • Career Fair On-Campus Interviews at the Fieldhouse - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Career Fair Veterans Networking Coffee at the Fieldhouse Hall of Fame room - 9 to 10 a.m.
  • Career Day at the Fieldhouse - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Very Important Alumni Bookstore Open House at the MSU Bookstore in the SUB - 4 to 6 p.m.Alumni can join the MSU Bookstore for trivia, beverages, appetizers and 30% off logo gear. RSVP by Monday, Sept. 30.
  • Lighting of the "M" at Story Mill Park in Bozeman - 7 to 8 p.m. The lights surrounding the College "M" will be lit to celebrate Homecoming. Once the lighting occurs, the event will conclude. Popcorn and hot chocolate will be provided.

Friday, Oct 4.

  • Blue and Gold Friday - All day.The MSU community is encouraged to wear blue and gold to show their MSU spirit.
  • Career Fair On-Campus Interviews at the SUB - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • President's Homecoming Breakfast in the SUB Ballrooms- 8 to 10 a.m.President Cruzado will start Homecoming weekend with a breakfast and give a state of the university address. By invitation only.
  • Spirit photos at the Alumni Plaza and Spirit Statue - 10 to 11:30 a.m.Professional photos at the iconic Spirit statue just north of Montana Hall. No RSVP needed.
  • Hike the "M" at the base of the "M" trail just outside of Bozeman- 1 to 3 p.m. This event is open to all alumni, students and Bobcat fans. The first 200 hikers who register and reach the top during the event will receive a special edition Bobcat fanny pack. RSVP by Monday, Sept. 30.
  • Alumni Friday at the R Bar in downtown Bozeman - 4 to 7 p.m. Stop in during Alumni Happy Hour and receive a free drink. All MSU alums are eligible.
  • President's Homecoming Awards in the SUB Ballrooms- 5:30 to 8 p.m. This event will honor the 2024 Homecoming Award recipients. Tickets are $45 per person, which includes dinner and an adult beverage. RSVP by Wednesday, Sept. 18.
  • Choral Reunion Rehearsal at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in downtown Bozeman - 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Email Kirk Aamot if interested in performing.
  • Homecoming Pep Rally on Main Street in downtown Bozeman - 6 p.m.Join the coaches, players and the Homecoming Ambassador candidates in a rally before the big game.
  • Fraternity and Sorority Alumni Social at the Baxter Hotel ballrooms in downtown Bozeman - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.A casual fraternity and sorority alumni social. $10 per person, which includes an adult beverage, appetizer and cash bar for additional drinks. RSVP by Monday, Sept. 30.

Saturday, Oct. 5

  • Serenade Before the Parade at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in downtown Bozeman - 9:30 to 10 a.m. The MSU Voces Luminis and the Montanans will perform a brief recital just before the parade.
  • ASMSU Homecoming Parade at Main Street in downtown Bozeman - 10 a.m.Join in the celebration of this long-lasting tradition. To enter a float or for parade questions, contact the Office of Student Engagement.
  • Homecoming Tailgate at the Kagy Practice Field- 11:30 a.m. Celebrate with alums, friends, parents and fans before the big game. Cost is $25 per adult and $15 per child over 12. Registration includes a barbecue buffet, adult beverage, unlimited soda and water, photo booth and an appearance by the Spirit of the West marching band. RSVP by Thursday, Oct. 3.
  • Montana PBS 40th Birthday Party at the Bozeman Public Library - Noon to 2 p.m.Celebrate 40 years of Montana PBS after the Homecoming parade.
  • MSU football vs. Northern Colorado at Bobcat Stadium - 2 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium. To purchase tickets, contact the Bobcat Ticket Office at 409-994-CATS or visit TicketsWest. The game will be broadcast on Scripps and ESPN+.

Sunday, Oct. 6

  • Bobcat Trail Challenge at Crosscut Mountain Sports Center - 10 a.m. The Bobcat Trail Challenge is a unique trail race, taking place on a challenging 5K XC Race Loop. Compete in 20K, 10K or 5K runs or as a two- or four-person team in the 20K relay.
