Twin Falls Park Boat Ramp Will Close Sept. 9 through December for Upgrades

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The lower part of Twin Falls Park, including the boat ramp, will be closed from Sept. 9 through the end of the year, while Idaho Power makes improvements to the popular Snake River recreation spot.

Idaho Power is upgrading the shoreline area with a new retaining wall, an enlarged beach area, and a vault toilet. Twin Falls Park is owned and operated by the electric utility as part of its requirement to provide public recreation access under its license to operate the Twin Falls Hydroelectric Power Plant.

Located two miles upstream of Shoshone Falls Park, off Falls Avenue, Twin Falls Park is a day-use, 10-acre park. The upper portion of the park, including the restroom, the reservable picnic shelter, and the scenic overlook will remain open, although brief closures for heavy equipment to safely move through the park may be necessary as the project nears completion. Schedule updates will be posted online at idahopower.com/twinfalls.

Idaho Power recently finished upgrading the road to the boat ramp and the staircase connecting the upper and lower portions of the park.

Idaho Power built the original Twin Falls Power Plant in 1935 and updated it in 1995 with a diversion structure and two powerhouses. It can generate up to 52,898 kilowatts, which is enough to power about 40,000 average homes.
