A new and improved Goring Library has reopened to residents following a six week refurbishment by Oxfordshire County Council.
The library, which reopened on 16 November, has been given a complete redecoration, as well as some new additions, including new moveable shelving to allow larger events to be held, and charging ports to allow customers to work on their own devices.
Surplus shelving and a counter from another library was also repurposed as part of the refurbishment to reduce the cost and environmental impact of the project.
Councillor Neil Fawcett, Oxfordshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Community and Corporate Services, said: "This newly refreshed library provides a lovely new space for people from all over the local community with a great range of books and so much more.
"This has been a real team effort, with the local community, our volunteer group, our staff and suppliers all pulling together. We have been lucky to have been supported by South Oxfordshire District Council, and the Friends of Goring Library, who also helped raise funds needed to buy some new books and hosted an event to celebrate the reopening.
"We are confident that local people will love the changes; and they now have a library that is modern, warm, welcoming and better able to meet their needs."
The refurbishment is part of an ongoing project to modernise Oxfordshire's libraries, and improve accessibility, reflecting the changing needs of local communities.
It was made possible thanks, in part, to developer funding, applied for through South Oxfordshire District Council.
