On November 27, 2024, State Police of Brunswick arrested Joyal R. Kelty, 24, of Troy, NY, for Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification Information in the third degree, and Identity Theft in the third degree.
On November 24, 2024, at about 10:00 p.m., Troopers received a complaint from a Rensselaer County resident reporting their debit card had been used without their permission. The debit card in question was still in the victim's possession. The investigation determined earlier in the day that the victim had used the debit card at the Taco Bell located at 718 Hoosick Road in Brunswick, NY. Kelty, the cashier at the restaurant at the time who took payment from the victim, allegedly took photos of the victim's debit card before returning it. Later that day, Kelty reportedly used that information to make multiple unauthorized withdrawals from the victim's account without permission.
Kelty was arrested and processed at SP Brunswick. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Brunswick Town Court on January 8, 2025, and released.
Kelty was employed at the Brunswick Taco Bell location from November 14, 2024, until November 24, 2024. Her employment ended once this crime was discovered, but she may have collected other customers' payment information. If you believe you may be a victim, please contact SP Brunswick at 518-457-6811 or email [email protected].
