Georgia Gwinnett College fall enrollment up for seventh consecutive semester

Once again, enrollment at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) continues its annual upward trajectory. For the fall semester, the number of students is projected to climb 2.1% overall, which means GGC will likely enroll well over 12,000 students. This marks seven consecutive semesters that enrollment has grown.

While nearly 75 percent of the students at GGC hail from Gwinnett County, there are plenty of coming from other states in the U.S., plus 116 countries. The top five countries outside of the U.S. that students are from are Vietnam, Nigeria, Venezuela, Mexico and India.

"I'm very pleased with our results so far," said Dr. Michael Poll, vice president of Enrollment Management and Institutional Research. "We're in a very competitive market. The close collaboration among staff, faculty and administrators creates the team effort necessary for us to continue growing every year."

One critical aspect of enrollment is student retention. The number of returning students is up 4%.

"This success is the direct result of the cornerstone of our strategic plan, which focuses on student success and retention," said Poll. "We have implemented several initiatives to support our students in their path to graduate from GGC. These initiatives are clearly paying off."
