CUPD partners with MADD South Carolina for “Saturation Saturday” on Aug. 24

In a powerful effort to fight impaired driving ahead of Labor Day weekend, the Clemson University Police Department (CUPD) is joining forces with Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) South Carolina and other law enforcement agencies across the state and country for "Saturation Saturday" on August 24, 2024.

In conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, CUPD will be increasing impaired driving traffic safety enforcement efforts on Saturation Saturday to save lives and prevent injuries. CUPD is one of more than a dozen law enforcement agencies throughout South Carolina participating in this statewide effort to protect our community against impaired driving, while more than a dozen other states will also be participating.

"Labor Day weekend celebrations often lead to a dramatic rise in fatal impaired driving crashes," said CUPD Sgt. Matthew Prisco. "Saturation Saturday was created to remind everyone that if you choose to drive impaired, you will get caught."

Saturation Saturday will kick off statewide with a virtual roll call briefing where participating agencies, MADD, and a victim/survivor of an impaired driving crash will gather online to highlight the importance of intensifying impaired driving enforcement during one of the year's busiest travel periods.
