Vic Hanny, Volunteer Firefighter and Historic Fire Station #8

​ Vic Hanny joined the Phoenix Fire Department's Pioneer Hose Company 1 less than 2 years after the founding of the Fire Department. The Pioneer Hose Company was the third Phoenix Fire Department company, founded on 21 August 1887. Historic Fire Station 8 was opened on the 1st of July 1942. It became an office in the late 1980s, and by 1994 was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It serves as a small museum, a meeting space and is the Phoenix Fire Department's historical research center. It is operated by the Phoenix Fire Department and United Phoenix Fire Fighters- Local 493, and is available for tours by appointment at [email protected].​
