Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 2205 Russell Street

September 3, 2024- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 2205 Russell Street about 11:25 a.m. on Monday (Sept. 2).

The suspect, Brandy Pointer, 42, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 486th State District Court. Pointer's booking photo is attached to this news release.

The victim, 21, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective D. Spears reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found the victim suffering from one gunshot wound. Paramedics transported him to the hospital.

Further investigation and evidence obtained from witnesses determined Pointer produced a firearm and shot the victim. Officers found Pointer near the scene and detained her. Investigators consulted the Harris County District Attorney's Office and she was subsequently charged.
