Have you always wanted to sing a cappella? Learn how to knit? Do some Irish step dancing? If you are looking to get involved on campus, you're in luck! On Saturday, September 7, thousands of students will swarm Nickerson Field for BU's twice-annual club fair, Splash. The event is from noon to 2:30 pm.

Margaret Babson, interim director of BU's Student Activities Office, says over 440 student groups have registered for tables at Splash, meaning there's very likely something for everyone.

"Whatever type of group you are looking for, whether it be related to arts, academic, cultural, community engagement, Greek life, religious, or recreation, all will be represented at Splash," Babson says.

The lively event will feature a DJ and free food and drinks, so you can recharge as you weave through the different sections of the field, organized by club type. Expect to find arts groups, community service and preprofessional organizations, club sports teams, and sororities and fraternities, all advertising their general meetings, offering sign-up lists, and sharing ways to get involved.

"I've been on both sides of Splash, as an interested student and as a member of a club, and I've found it super helpful for both," says Lindsey Polevoy (COM'25). "As a freshman, I got to learn about clubs I never even considered joining before college. I wrote my name on the WTBU mailing list on a whim, and now I'm on WTBU's e-board." (If you're wondering, WTBU is BU's radio station, based at the College of Communication. It has news shows, sports talk, arts coverage, and, of course, music.)

Brady Willis (COM'25) says that Splash gave him a great introduction to the BU community when he was a freshman. Now a senior, he is a member of the Delta Kappa Alpha film fraternity, the BU Dance Theatre group, and COM's student government.

Willis says that the groups he found at Splash have had a crucial role in his college experience and helped him make many of his friends. "I definitely recommend any first-year or transfer student to attend," he says. "It really does demonstrate the volume of ways in which students can get involved, meet like-minded people, and pursue their passions at BU."
