It is not often fans of a film franchise have to wait 36 years for a sequel. But that's been an agonizing reality for Beetlejuice (1988)fans. Now, their patience has finally paid off: the scary, wacky film about the underworld and its inhabitants finally has a sequel, aptly titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, opening Friday.

BU Today is celebrating its release with a trivia quiz. The prize is two tickets to see the movie tonight at 8 pm at AMC Boston Common 19. Each person who answers all the questions on the form below correctly by noon today, Friday, September 6, will be entered in a drawing for the tickets. BU Today will announce the winner today by 1 pm.

In the sequel, director Tim Burton returns to a franchise that helped launch him into stardom, along with stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara. Jenna Ortega and Willem Dafoe complete the cast. When it debuted at the Venice International Film Festival last week, the dark comedy received favorable feedback from reviewers, who lauded Burton for taking viewers on a journey of nostalgia.

In the movie, the Deetz family reconvenes in the town of Winter River-the same town where the events of the first film happen-following the death of Charles Deetz, the father of Lydia Deetz (Ryder). Lydia's defiant daughter, Astrid (Ortega), finds a model of Winter River in the attic, accidentally opening a portal to the afterlife. Of course, someone says the name of the infamous demon three times, releasing Betelgeuse (his proper name) back into the Deetzes' life to wreak havoc and mayhem. Betelgeuse still has not given up his quest for the love of his life, Lydia, remaining steadfast in his mission to attain her hand in marriage.

The PG-13 film (for violent content, macabre and bloody images, and strong language) has a current score of 77 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
