On 30 September this year, in the auditorium of the Polish History Museum, the Żabiński Foundation organized a special screening of The Zookeeper's Wife in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Jan Żabiński, a Polish independence fighter, long-time director of the City Zoological Garden, and a Warsaw insurgent.

During the Second World War, the premises of the Warsaw Zoo were a place where Jan and Antonina Żabiński saved lives, gave shelter and provided assistance to hundreds of people mainly from the Warsaw Ghetto, for which they were awarded the title of Righteous Among Nations in 1965.

The event was attended by relatives of and people close to the Żabiński family: Dominik Zawadzki - the grandson of Jan and Antonina, a Founder and Vice-President of the Zabinski Foundation (Fundacja Żabińskich) who shared their memories prior to the screening of the film. The President of the Żabiński Foundation, Ms Anat Arazi, told the guests about the goals and objectives of the Foundation. Members of the diplomatic corps in Poland were also in attendance.

The screening of The Zookeeper's Wife at the Polish History Museum is part of a broader joint project by the Żabiński Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with its missions abroad, to organise special screenings of the film in numerous countries around the world.
