Small Business Saturday People’s Choice Awards 2024

Small Business Saturday, taking place on December 7th, 2024, is more than just a day - it's a movement that encourages everyone to recognise and support small businesses, which contribute so much to our economy and communities. In Newcastle, small businesses are the heart of our city, from the bustling high streets to local neighbourhood hubs. These businesses provide essential services, create jobs, and make our community stronger and more vibrant.

To show our support, Newcastle City Council is hosting the People's Choice Awards 2024. This gives our community a chance to celebrate local businesses that go above and beyond. From Best Small Retail Business to Best Small Community Champion, our awards cover five categories The awards provide a unique opportunity for the people of Newcastle to champion the businesses that matter most to them and bring light to those who work tirelessly to make our city special.

We are looking to celebrate not one but 5 businesses based on the categories below.

Please select one of the categories below and place your vote for that category. You can then repeat the process to nominate up to 5 businesses across the following themes:

• Retailer - businesses providing quality products, excellent customer service and great value for money
• Food and Hospitality - from cafes to delis, bars and restaurants, your favourite place to nourish the soul
• Ethical and Environmentally Conscious - businesses working to make a difference in the world, how they operate or being kinder to the environment
• Community Champion - businesses that go above and beyond for their local community
• Cultural Creative - those businesses that put a smile on your face and wow us with their creativity

You can nominate the same business for more than one category, but you can only submit one vote per category.

Winners will be based on the most votes per category. The winner with the most votes overall will be crowned overall winner in addition to their category win.

Voting is open from 4th November 2024 to 24th November 2024. Each vote helps shine a spotlight on the businesses that make a difference - whether it's your favourite café, a family-run shop, or an environmentally conscious enterprise. This year, we're expecting record participation, with thousands of votes cast as Newcastle's residents show their appreciation and pride for their local businesses. The business with the highest overall votes across all categories will receive the People's Choice Award, alongside individual category winners.
