September 9-15: Patriotism Week

WHEREAS, Patriotism Week serves as a time to honor the enduring principles upon which our nation was founded: liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness; and,

WHEREAS,the state of Michigan is home to a diverse and resilient population that embodies the strength of our American spirit. Our communities thrive on the values of hard work, compassion, and unity, contributing to the prosperity of our state and nation; and,

WHEREAS,in recognizing Patriotism Week, we are reminded that the rights and liberties we cherish must be actively defended and passed on to future generations. It is through our collective efforts that we ensure these freedoms endure; and,

WHEREAS,this week provides an opportunity for all Michiganders to reflect on the importance of civic responsibility, honor those who have served our nation in times of war and peace, and foster a renewed sense of pride in America; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim September 9-15 as Patriotism Week in Michigan.
