Madison Public Libraries Will Be Closed for Labor Day, Sunday Hours Return, and More

MADISON, WI - All library locations will be closed to in-person service on Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day. Libraries will reopen on Tuesday, September 3 with regular hours.

While physical spaces are closed, Madison Public Library card holders can continue to access LINKcat to place holds, check their records online, or renew items. Online collections, ebooks and downloadable audiobooks from Wisconsin's Digital Library, Kanopy streaming video, Flipster magazines, etc. remain available. Book returns will remain open for 24/7 service.

Additionally, Sunday hours will return to three locations on Sunday, September 8. From Labor Day to Memorial Day, Central, Goodman South Madison and Lakeview Libraries offer in-person library service on Sundays from 1-5pm (no phone service available).

The Dream Bus will be off the road from August 26 - September 6, returning on Monday, September 9 with a new route for the school year. The Dream Bus is Madison Public Library's library on wheels, and it travels to more than a dozen locations around Madison and into Sun Prairie to deliver library service to those experiencing transportation barriers. The project is a partnership with Dane County Library Service, Madison Public Library, and the Madison Public Library Foundation. Learn more about the Dream Bus and see the updated schedule (available August 26) at madpl.org/dreambus.
