NYU Journalism Graduate Jain Wins Student Academy Award

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has awarded New York University alumnus Rishabh Jain a Student Academy Award bronze medal in the "Documentary" category.

Jain is a 2024 graduate of the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute's News and Documentary program, whose students and alumni have now won 11 Student Academy award medals.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced in September that Jain and 11 others had been voted winners of the competition. Last evening, during a ceremony at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London, the medal placements-gold, silver, and bronze-for each of these winners were revealed in the following categories: "Alternative/Experimental," "Animation," "Documentary," and "Narrative."

"The wonderful thing about our News and Documentary program is that it attracts students from around the world who are dedicated to telling the stories of those trying to maintain their humanity despite horrific conditions," says Professor Marcia Rock, director of the News and Documentary program.
