East 16th Street to Close Friday

AMES, Iowa - East 16th Street, from Duff Avenue to Maxwell Avenue, will close on Friday, Sept. 20, weather permitting, for pavement removal and replacement. The pavement removal and replacement is expected to be completed in five to six weeks.

The City of Ames has contracted with Manatts Inc. for the reconstruction of Quebec Street, Quebec Circle, Glendale Avenue, and East 16th Street. The East 16th Street portion includes pavement replacement, curb and gutter replacement, sanitary upgrades, and storm intake updates. Additionally, sidewalk ramps at intersections will be updated to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
