Chesapeake, Va. - Matthew R. Hamel, Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Chesapeake, announced that on September 16, 2024, Jonathan Wilson, age 36, of Chesapeake, VA, was convicted of 2 counts of Rape of a Child under Thirteen Years Old, 7 Counts of Indecent Liberties, 3 Counts of Forcible Sodomy, and 4 Counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery. These acts occurred at his residence in the Greenbrier section of the City.

In January of 2022, Chesapeake Detectives learned that the IP address associated with the defendant's home was uploading Child Abuse Sexual Material. These convictions reflect physical acts that take place in 11 of the videos and images where the defendant is seen repeatedly sexually abusing his daughter, while she was between the ages of 2 and 4.

The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced on January 6, 2025. The Honorable Judge Marjorie T. Arrington will sentence the defendant. These charges carry up to a life sentence in the Virginia Department of Corrections.

The Child Pornography charges are being handled separately by the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The case was investigated by Detective J. Rider of the Chesapeake Police Department Special Victim's Unit. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Stephanie Pass and Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Jaclyn Aranibar. For media inquiries, please contact Gloria Nuss at 757-382-3213.
