General Zhang Youxia meets Singaporean and Cambodian guests

BEIJING, Sep. 12 -- On the occasion of the opening of the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, General Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, met in Beijing respectively with Singaporean Defense Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Tea Seiha, who are attending the forum, on Thursday.

During the meeting with Dr Ng Eng Hen, General Zhang Youxia expressed the hope that the two militaries should maintain close high-level interaction, deepen and expand practical cooperation in various fields such as joint exercises, joint training, and personnel training, and promote the continuous development of mil-to-mil relations.

Dr Ng Eng Hen highly praised the important role of Beijing Xiangshan Forum in promoting regional and global peace and stability, and wished this forum a complete success. He stated that the Singaporean side firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is willing to play a constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the South China Sea region. He also expressed the hope to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China and continuously improve the relations between the two countries and two militaries.

During the meeting with Gen. Tea Seiha, General Zhang Youxia said that the military cooperation history between China and Cambodia is profound and fruitful and hoped that both sides would strengthen high-level strategic communication, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and promote mil-to-mil relations to a new level.

Gen. Tea Seiha said that the long-standing deep friendship and selfless assistance from the Chinese government and military are extremely precious to Cambodia. Cambodia is willing to work together with all parties to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea region. He also expressed the hope to further expand the depth and breadth of exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and two militaries, and further promote the building of Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era.
