SCO Observer Mission in Uzbekistan. Day Two
On 27 October, 2024, the election day to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and local Kengashes, the Observer Mission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation monitored the voting process.

The Mission led by SCO Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev and comprised of 15 representatives from seven SCO member states (Republic of Belarus, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Kazakhstan, People's Republic of China, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, and Republic of Tajikistan) and the SCO Secretariat, visited 48 polling stations located in Tashkent, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Zaamin, and Samarkand.

During the monitoring, the SCO observers talk with chairpersons and members of local election commissions, national and international observers, and media representatives. The Mission members were also present at the opening and closing of polling stations and the counting of votes.

The Mission members praised how the election process was organised, as well as the technical equipment at the polling stations and the informativeness of the reference materials presented on the stands, and also noted the active involvement of representatives of civil society and youth in the election process.

SCO Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergei Lebedev. The parties discussed the course of the elections.
