NCCU Homecoming Incident Update, Nov. 21

On Nov. 20, Jerrick Dennard Woods surrendered to the Orange County Sheriff's Office after arrest warrants were issued in connection with the shooting that occurred during North Carolina Central University's (NCCU) Ultimate Homecoming Experience on Oct. 26.

Woods has been charged with:

• Assault with a Deadly Weapon
• Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
• Discharging a Firearm on Educational Property
• Gun on Educational Property

He is currently being held without bond at the Orange County Detention Center.

The incident, which resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to four individuals, including an NCCU student, has been the subject of an extensive investigation led by the NCCU Police Department. The university is grateful for the support and collaboration of our local and state law enforcement partners during this process.
