SCCUDD to Host Event on State of Youth Substance Use in Schuyler County

The Schuyler County Coalition on Underage Drinking and Drugs (SCCUDD) is hosting an event on the state of substance use among Schuyler County youth and the community overall. The event is December 3rd, 2024, at the Watkins Glen High School Cafeteria from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM and is open to the public. Guest speakers include representatives from the District Attorney's Office, Public Health, and the Youth Bureau.

"We've seen dramatic decreases in youth substance use rates since our first survey in 2013 and we want to keep the momentum going," shared Schuyler County Public Health Director Jill Kasprzyk. "We hope community members will come out to the event to learn more about this important topic and to provide their input on the direction the coalition should take in the coming year."

SCCUDD shared that the event will include:

  • A presentation from the DA's Office on the current state of drug use in Schuyler County with a special focus on youth substance use.
  • Information on current youth substance use rates, how they have changed since 2013, and how local rates compare to rates nationally.
  • A celebration of the accomplishments of SCCUDD during the 10-year Drug-Free Communities grant program that funded the community coalition up until September of this year.
  • A chance for community members to provide input and decide what direction the coalition will take in the coming year.

Light refreshments will be provided.
