Covington elected to office for Mathematical Association of America

Natchitoches - Dr. Judith Covington, professor of mathematics at Northwestern State University, was elected by the Congress of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) as the chair of Council on Sections.
As chair of the Council on Sections, she will oversee the four committees of the council, the Committee on Section Bylaws, Committee on Section Meetings, Committee on Section Needs and Concerns and the Section Lecturers committee. In this position she will also serve on the nine-member Board of Directors of the MAA.

Covington will start as Deputy Chair of the Council on Sections on January 1, 2025, and her term as the chair will run July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2029.
MAA Sections are the regional arm of the organization and Covington said she is excited to work with the 29 sections of the MAA. She has been an MAA member for over 30 years.
