Killeen Citizen Academy to begin accepting applications for 2025 class

KILLEEN, Texas (November 1, 2024) - The City of Killeen will open applications for the 2025 Killeen Citizens Academy on November 4.

The free, eight-week course will run each Thursday, from Jan. 16 - Mar. 13, 2025 and gives citizens a look at how municipalities are run. The program aims to improve citizen engagement and help create a better Killeen. Residents will get to see and understand how the City of Killeen works, with an in-depth lesson on each department and function or program of city government.

Classes occur once a week for eight weeks and graduation is on Mar. 13, 2025. Applications are open until Friday, Dec. 29, 2024, or until the program reaches capacity.

In March of 2024, 30 students completed the program and participated in a graduation ceremony at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center.

The Killeen Citizens Academy is a free program that began in 2014 and participants interact with elected officials and city staff to get an inside look at city operations.
