Abney honored with 2024 PASSHE Keepers of the Flame Award

Robertha Abney, a Slippery Rock University associate professor of sport management, received the 2024 Keepers of the Flame award from Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education.
The award recognizes an individual from each of the 14 State System university campuses for their contributions to creating and promoting diverse, equitable and inclusive environments that cultivate a sense of belonging.
Abney was recognized for her work with SRU's sport management program and advocating for women in athletics during her career. She is a member of the faculty union's social justice committee and the Black Faculty Staff Association.
The State System and its universities honored recipients of the Keepers of the Flame Award during the 2024 DEI Summit, Oct. 28, at Millersville University.
