Kunshan’s foreign trade sees steady growth

According to the statistics released by Kunshan Customs recently, Kunshan's foreign trade in the first 5 months of this year rose by 18.8% year-on-year to 307.64 billion yuan, accounting for 13.8% of Jiangsu Province's total import and export value. And the growth rate was 9.6 and 12.5 percentage points higher than that of the province and the country respectively. In May, the city's total import and export volume reached 64.69 billion yuan, an increase of 26.9% year-on-year, achieving positive growth for 9 consecutive months.

In the January-May period, Kunshan's exports grew by 13.1% to 204.13 billion yuan, while its imports surged by 31.8% to 103.51 billion yuan.

In the first five months of this year, Kunshan's foreign trade volume with its major trade partners such as the United States and the European Union maintained stable growth. Meanwhile, the city made solid efforts to gain a bigger share in such emerging markets as Latin America and the Middle East, so as to further expand its international trade.
