HACLA Celebrates 5035 Coliseum Groundbreaking

On Wednesday, September 18th, HACLA attended a groundbreaking event for 5035 Coliseum, a development that will bring 800 units of mixed-income housing and a Costco store to South LA.

Led by Thrive Living, this project will transform an underutilized site into a vibrant community with a mix of affordable and market-rate homes, retail options, and community spaces. The development will include 184 units reserved for low-income families, and HACLA will utilize innovative HUD programs, such as Faircloth to RAD, to increase affordable housing options. There is also a strong commitment to hiring from the local community, and the new 183,000-square-foot Costco will feature groceries and other amenities.

HACLA will oversee the project through its nonprofit, La Cienega LOMOD, ensuring that these homes remain affordable for generations.
