ICANN Publishes Addendums to the Registry Service Provider Handbook

The Internet Corporation for Names and Numbers (ICANN) has made additional information available for the Registry Service Provider (RSP) Evaluation Program consisting of two addendums to the RSP Handbook. As part of ICANN's New Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) Program: Next Round, the RSP Evaluation Program is intended to improve the efficiency of evaluating new gTLDs by separating the assessment of the technical aspects of operating a gTLD from the application for the gTLD label.

The evaluation of RSPs is an important part of ICANN's mission to help ensure a stable, secure, and resilient Internet. RSPs offer critical services, such as Domain Name System, Registration Data Access Protocol, and DNS Security Extensions, among others, on behalf of a registry operator.

The updates to the RSP Handbook include addendums for the RSP Eligibility Criteria and RSP Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest.

The RSP Evaluation Program's Terms and Conditions has also been updated and the Frequently Asked Questions includes new questions and answers.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address - a name or a number - into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
