Military Health Institute at UT Health San Antonio to host its first Veteran and Caregiver Resource Fair

WHAT: Military Health Institute at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio) will host its first Veteran and Caregiver Resource Fair, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The event will connect veterans and caregivers with resources, programs and services all in one place.

WHEN: Thursday, July 18, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Kerrville VA Hospital, 3600 Memorial Blvd., Kerrville, TX 78028

WHO: Representatives from Veterans Affairs, health care organizations and support groups, including military veterans, their families and caregivers are expected to attend.

Micah Wright, PhD, program manager, Military Health Institute at UT Health San Antonio

Roxana Delgado, PhD, MS, director of the School of Nursing Caring for the Caregiver program, and professor and military research scholar at UT Health San Antonio

WHY: This in-person event will offer a variety of resources to help improve the health and well-being of veterans and caregivers. This fair is designed to provide valuable information and support for the entire family.

NOTES: Military Health Institute at UT Health San Antonio promotes collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in the areas of research, education, clinical care and engagement with a mission to improve the lives of military service members, veterans and their families.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides clinical services to caregivers to promote health and well-being of family caregivers who care for Veterans through education, resources, support and services.

Resources from UT Health San Antonio will be available at the fair, which include Mobile Health Unit, Mobile Dental Clinic, Caring for the Caregiver program, and Mays Cancer Center at UT Health San Antonio.

Additional resources will also be available from Veterans Affairs, Military Veteran Peer Network, Hill Country Veterans Council, Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG), TBI Warrior Foundation and Veterans of Foreign War Post 180.
