17 Year Old Arrested with a Large Capacity Firearm

At about 2:25 PM, on Monday, December 9, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) were conducting an ongoing firearm investigation in the area of Delhi Street. Officers had information that a 17-year-old Juvenile male was in possession of a firearm.

While conducting surveillance, officers observed the target of their investigation in the area of Delhi Street and Violet Street. The suspect observed the officers, and began to grab at an unknown item in his waistband. As officers drove their cruiser closer to the suspect, he immediately took off in a full sprint.

Officers exited their cruiser and a foot chase ensued. Officers observed the suspect to be running with his right hand securing an item in his waistband. The suspect was able to enter an apartment and closed the door. Officers knocked and announced their presence, and were given access to the apartment. Officers placed the suspect into handcuffs and the apartment was secured pending a search warrant.

At about 12:06 AM, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, detectives executed a search warrant and recovered a Polymer 80 Firearm equipped with a flashlight/dot laser, and nineteen rounds in a large capacity magazine. Officers also recovered five rounds of 9mm ammunition.

A 17-year-old Juvenile Male was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
