Draft Rushworth Place Based Plan open for feedback

Draft Rushworth Place Based Plan open for feedback

Published on 12 February 2024

Following months of consultation and community engagement, the Rushworth Place Based Plan committee has approved the draft Rushworth Place Based Plan for the community to review.

Place Based Plans focus on making places better. The process involves looking at, listening to and engaging with community members who live, work and play in a particular place to understand their needs and aspirations.

Over the next six weeks, the Rushworth community members will have the opportunity to read and discuss the contents of the plan and provide feedback before being tabled to Council.

Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Rob Amos said the plan is a combination of aspirations and future ambitions sourced from the responses to the in-person consultation sessions and survey back in June 2023.

"I'm really excited for the Rushworth community to see some incredible projects in the draft plan. 315 people provided feedback in various forms to develop tourism, events and business, health, wellbeing and culture, infrastructure, natural environments and community participation.

"The plan focuses on four main areas, including quick wins, short projects, medium projects and longer-term priorities. I encourage you all to read through the plan and provide your feedback," Cr Amos said.

The Rushworth Place Based Plan Committee is made up of nine members including Matthew Barlow, Louise Costa, Graeme Hannigan, Mark Labozzetta, Andrew Larkin, Jasmin Le Deux, Crystal Pateman, Sarah Pain and Anne Spittles.

Waranga Ward Councillor, Cr Adrian Weston thanked the committee for volunteering their time to develop this plan and being community advocates for the upcoming plan.

"It's truly a testament to the community spirit in Rushworth and the love the residents have for their town. The plan focuses on projects and ideas that enhance Rushworth and make it a better place to live for the wider community."
