HARRISBURG -State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Clint Owlett (R-68) today announced $50,000 has been awarded to Wellsboro by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) through the Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2). Funding will be used to prepare a tree inventory and maintenance plan and build local tree stewardship capacity.
"This funding for Wellsboro Borough will undoubtedly benefit our region and have a positive impact on our environment and recreational opportunities," Yaw said. "I am pleased to see this important investment in Tioga County."
"There is so much to love about Wellsboro, from the idyllic downtown to the scenery that surrounds it," Owlett said. "This funding will help maintain and build upon just one of the many elements that make Wellsboro a great place to live, operate a business or visit."
The C2P2 is funded with a variety of state and federal funding sources, including the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), which includes Key-Community and Key-Land Trust; the Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF); the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF); Pennsylvania Trails Fund (PRT - federal source); Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA); and the ATV Restricted Management Account Fund (ATV).
