Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on Aug. 1, 2024 which resulted in the death of a female adult.
At approximately 1:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 2nd Street and Studebaker Road regarding a single vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle in the northbound lanes of Studebaker Road, south of Loynes Drive. The vehicle was occupied by a female adult driver and a female adult passenger.
Good Samaritans had stopped to provide medical assistance to both occupants.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the passenger to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. The driver was determined deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2018 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Studebaker Road at a high rate of speed, the vehicle then collided with a guardrail of a bridge in the center median.
At this time, speed and alcohol are being investigated as factors in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Brianna Chairez, a 27-year-old resident of Norwalk.
