Residents were invited to a local community energy drop-in event where experts gave free impartial advice to help save money and tips for staying warm this winter.

West Suffolk Council attended the Keep the Heat event at Ixworth Village Hall on Saturday 16 November. Green Ixworth teamed up with the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership (SCCP) to run the event alongside stallholders from organisations such as Warm Homes Healthy People, Centres for Warmth and Safe Suffolk Renters, Suffolk County Council and many more in attendance.

After a welcome from MP Peter Prinsley, there was a presentation on the Thermal Imaging Project run by SCCP. Residents were then encourage to explore the different stalls to address any energy-related questions on insulation, heat pumps, solar panels and more.

Rodger Spiller from Green Ixworth, said: "Green Ixworth are delighted that the hard work of many organisations, produced such a vibrant community energy drop-in event in Ixworth last Saturday."

"There was great interest from those attending the event in all that was on offer to save energy and cut costs. Advice and support were available from a wide range of experts from the voluntary, public authority and ecological commercial sectors."

"The help and continuing assistance of the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership, which includes West Suffolk Council, means we are able to continue to offer heat maps and advice to all who would like them. We can then offer grants, loans and subsidies to implement changes and improvements to reduce energy costs and improve comfort by using the skills and expertise of the various collaborators within Suffolk."
