Iridium satellite communication system uses 1616-1626.5 MHz band to uplink with orbiting communication satellites. GPS satellites broadcast at 1227.60 MHz (L2), 1575.42(L1) MHz and Galileo satellites broadcast at 1575.42(L1) MHz. Proximity of the Iridium frequency communication band with the L1 frequencies of the GPS, Galileo systems can cause crosstalk with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers. Cross talk between Iridium transmissions and other GPS signal can cause cycle slips and loss of lock on the carrier and code phases, thereby degrading the quality observations.
MtronPTI's narrow bandwidth and high rejection Iridium band filters isolate Iridium frequencies from outside interference. They operate with maximum insertion loss of 2.0 dB while achieving required rejection levels outside Iridium band.
