Kick off fall with community conversations at ‘Coffee with a Cop’

The Ventura Police Department and Lovewell Tea & Coffee invite the community to a 'Coffee with a Cop' event on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. at Lovewell Tea & Coffee, located at 2271 N. Ventura Avenue in west Ventura.

"Events like these remind us of the importance of connecting with our community on a regular basis and personal level," said Chief Darin Schindler. "We value every opportunity to listen, engage, and build stronger relationships with those we serve."

With autumn in the air and Halloween around the corner, this event provides a unique opportunity for residents to connect with local police officers in a warm, welcoming environment. 'Coffee with a Cop' events build trust, strengthen community relationships, and support small businesses in Ventura.

"We're excited to partner with the Ventura Police Department for this event," said Andrea Dornbusch, Co-owner of Lovewell Tea & Coffee. "It's a wonderful way for us to give back to the community and create meaningful connections. Building relationships over a hand-brewed cup of coffee helps us all feel a little more connected, and safe."

Most interactions with Ventura Police officers occur during high-stress or emergency situations, which aren't always ideal for building positive connections. 'Coffee with a Cop' breaks down those barriers, offering a relaxed, one-on-one setting to interact with officers who serve Ventura's neighborhoods. Whether you're looking for safety tips, have questions about community issues, or want to say hello and show off your Halloween costume, this event provides a chance to engage directly with the people who keep Ventura safe.
