Rankings based on project activities, job growth and capital investments in utilities' service areas

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - International economic development publication Site Selection named Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company once again among the top 20 utilities nationwide for economic development activities in 2023.

"It's an honor to once again be recognized for our company's dedication to economic growth and prosperity in the Commonwealth," said LG&E and KU President John Crockett. "Over the last decade, through our competitive energy rates, excellent reliability and attractive incentives for new and expanding businesses, we are proud to have helped add more than 100,000 jobs to the communities we serve. Our company helps fuel the engine that makes Kentucky grow. And when part of Kentucky grows, we all grow."

The company continues working to make it easier for businesses to choose Kentucky through its Opportunity Kentucky website, which offers site selection tools to help find available properties in the company's service territory and an array of data and reports to help companies choose the most ideal site for their business.

"The elite Top Utilities we named this year earned the honor due to their economic development teams' outstanding efforts connecting to business and community leaders as well as to power sources," said Site Selection Editor in Chief Adam Bruns in the publication's official announcement. "What they hear and what we hear from those leaders is that power provision is top of mind."

This is the eleventh time in 12 years LG&E and KU has been named a top utility for economic development. LG&E and KU continue to be a key driver in major projects across Kentucky through the utilities' expedient service, innovative programs and commitment to customers. Over the last ten years, LG&E and KU's economic development efforts supported more than 1,600 new or expanded businesses, which helped create $31 billion in investments in Kentucky.
