Discover pathways to teacher certification during CU Become a Teacher at RSU virtual workshop

Individuals from all walks of life who want to enter the teaching profession are encouraged to attend "CU Become a Teacher," a virtual workshop that will present the multiple pathways to becoming a certified teacher. The Zoom presentation will take place on Thursday, April 6, at 5:30 p.m. and will offer information to those who have a college degree, those who have earned college credit but have yet to earn a degree, and those who have yet to earn college credit.

"The need for certified teachers throughout Oklahoma continues," says Jayne McLouglin, CU's advisement specialist at Rogers State University (RSU). "There are many individuals who would like to teach yet are unsure of the steps necessary to gain certification. During this informational session, we'll discuss the various pathways to teaching certification, once of which is to complete a Cameron University education degree program on the RSU campus."

Cameron offers degree programs in elementary education and social studies education at RSU in Claremore. Students who earn an Associate in Arts degree in either elementary education or secondary education (social studies option) from RSU or an Associate in Science degree in child development (teacher certification option) at Tulsa Community College can transfer their earned credit hours to Cameron's program at RSU to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in either elementary education or social studies education. In-person classes offered on the campus of RSU are taught by Cameron faculty members. Some coursework is taught online.

CU Become a Teacher will also present information pertinent to those who have earned some college credits as well as those who have not yet attended any college classes.

Cameron's education programs are located in Prep Hall, room 204 on the RSU campus. For more information, contact Jayne McLoughlin at 918-343-7971 or [email protected].
