Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Stabbing - 0 block of 4th Place: On Sep. 2, 2024 at approximately 5:11 a.m., officers responded to the 0 block of 4th Place regarding a burglary, which was later determined to also be a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult suspect entered the victim's residence and an altercation occurred, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.Officers located the suspect nearby. The suspect was uncooperative, and a use of force occurred where officers used 40mm less-lethal rounds to bring the suspect into custody. The suspect was medically cleared at a local hospital and transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking. The suspect was identified as Anthony Bartolo Olivas, a 46-year-old person experiencing homelessness, who was booked for burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. Bail is set at $50,000. The investigation is ongoing.

Great work officers! Last night, officers safely took a gun off the streets:

  • On Sep. 2, 2024 at approximately 4:44 a.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Pine Avenue regarding a person with a gun call. During the investigation, officers arrested the suspect and recovered a firearm. The investigation is ongoing.
