Congressman Cohen Announces $250,000 Grant to Memphis Brooks Museum of Art

MEMPHIS - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art will receive a $250,000 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to accommodate its move to a new facility on the Memphis riverfront. The grant is being matched with $429,469 from other supporters.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"Our Memphis riverfront is becoming a showcase attraction and a highlight for visitors. The new Brooks on the bluff will contribute to that in a significant manner. The Brooks has been a cultural attraction in Memphis for generations. The decision has been made to build a new, modern museum with views of the river and it's good that the Institute of Museum and Library Services is making the transition affordable."
