MEMPHIS - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that Shelby County will receive a $7,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for air quality sensors in low-income and disadvantaged communities. The funding for the grant came from the Inflation Reduction Act that Congressman Cohen voted for.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"Shelby County has a well-known history of air pollution in its low-income neighborhoods, illustrated recently by the threat caused by ethylene oxide at a plant that has now been closed. This funding will address specific neighborhood concerns and is a smart investment in the health of our people."
