UDOT urges drivers to plan ahead for full closure of southbound I-215 in West Valley City

Bridge repairs to reduce lanes to one throughout week, then close traffic along southbound I-215 on Sunday

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) urges drivers to plan ahead for a full closure of southbound I-215 at 2700 South in West Valley City this weekend.

I-215 will be closed at 2700 South Sunday night, starting at 6 p.m., and will reopen in time for the Monday morning commute.

Prior to the closure, southbound I-215 will be reduced to one lane every night this week, Tuesday through Saturday, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

These closures will allow crews to remove and repair the bridge beam at 2700 South, which was damaged last year when a tractor transporting machinery hit the bridge. An inspection determined that the bridge was safe for traffic use, but would eventually require repairs.

Drivers can exit at SR-201 and travel east to I-15 or west along Bangerter Highway.

I-215 in this area will fully close again on the night of Sunday, October 20. Expect daytime lane closures that day while crews prepare for the night work.
