Investigation into Fatal Crash at 17000 Eastex Freeway

September 6, 2024- Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 17000 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 9:10 pm. on Thursday (September 5).

The identity of the deceased male, believed to be in his 20s, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The driver of a silver Ford F150 pickup truck was traveling southbound on the Eastex Freeway when the driver struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway, not in a crosswalk. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.
