Tester Secures More Than $175,000 for Public Safety on the Crow Reservation

Funding comes from the Senator's bipartisan infrastructure law

Continuing his work to invest in safe and reliable infrastructure in Indian Country, U.S. Senator Jon Tester secured $175,554 in Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant funding for the Crow Tribe. The grant will be used to develop a comprehensive safety action plan to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries to ultimately improve road safety.

Tester established the SS4A grant program through his bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Tester worked with five Republicans and four Democrats to negotiate the IIJA and was the only member of Montana's Congressional delegation to vote for the bill.

"Folks in Crow Country count on safe streets for everything from getting to and from work to dropping their kids off safely at school," said Tester. "These targeted resources will help the Crow Tribe plan for the future to ensure the community can count on safe and reliable travel for years to come. I'm proud to have secured this funding, and I'm looking forward to seeing these federal dollars be put to good use."

Tester secured significant wins for Montana in the IIJA, including $2.82 billion for Montana's roads, highways and bridges; $2.5 billion to complete all authorized Indian water rights settlements; $1 billion to complete all authorized rural water projects through the Bureau of Reclamation; $65 billion to deploy broadband to areas across the country that lack internet access and additionally make online connectivity affordable; and $3.37 billion to reduce wildfire risk nationwide, among others. Tester also worked to ensure that all iron, steel, and construction materials used for these projects must be made in America.
