Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) will host its annual fee-waived pet adoption event, 'Home for the Holidays,' Saturday and Sunday, December 14 & 15, 2024,11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., at the Animal Shelter, 42225 Adoption Drive in Leesburg. Adoption fees will be waived for all available pets, which includes cats, kittens, dogs, and small pets.
With adoptions for adult animals slowing significantly, a number of cats and dogs have been waiting for families for months, said Animal Shelter Operations Manager Melissa Heard. "We have playful cats like Teasel, and goofy dogs like UberEats, and people unfortunately just pass them by every day for weeks on end," said Heard. "It really takes a toll on these sweet animals who have lived in homes, and then had their worlds turned upside down when they arrived at the shelter."
All dogs adopted during the Home for the Holidays adoption event will head home with one month of free training classes. All adopted pets will receive a goodie bag full of supplies.
"The holidays are a time for hope and connection, not just for people but for the countless pets in shelters waiting for a family," said Heard. "No pet should spend the season alone. This is our chance to match them with loving homes and make the holidays brighter for everyone."
The event will be full of holiday cheer with goodie bags for adopters and more. Prospective adopters can view available pets online at loudoun.gov/animals. The standard adoption screening process still applies during this promotion; most adoptions can be completed on the same day.
All dogs, cats and rabbits adopted from LCAS are spayed or neutered and receive a microchip which is registered to their adopter. Dogs and cats also receive age-appropriate vaccinations.
