PACIFIC GROVE, CA - November 13, 2024 - California American Water announced the completion of its Dolores Street Water Main Replacement Project in Carmel. This important infrastructure improvement project helps ensure continued reliable water service for residents and businesses in the area.
The Dolores Street improvements included the replacement of approximately 3,000 feet of 100-year-old water main pipe, which will help prevent future breaks and minimize service interruptions for California American Water customers. The completed project also included the installation of three new fire hydrants and replacement of two existing ones, significantly improving water flow for fire protection and enhancing public safety for first responders.
"The Dolores Street main replacement project is yet another example of the ongoing, proactive, capital infrastructure improvements we regularly perform to help ensure our customers can get clean, reliable water service with minimal interruptions," said David Pezzini, Senior Project Engineer, of California American Water. "Beyond the water service improvements for our customers' homes and businesses, the improved water flow and fire hydrants will provide greater public safety benefits, providing additional security for the residents and guests of Carmel."
In addition to the below ground main replacement improvements, completion of the project included enhancing the previous condition of Dolores Street by applying a slurry seal on the road.
