ABEMA's Online Live Entertainment Platform ABEMA Live Launches AI Multilingual Subtitling Feature in South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, and the United States
ABEMA, the new TV for the future, has added AI multilingual subtitles as a new feature of "ABEMA Live," an online live entertainment platform from Japan and across Asia. This feature is initially available in South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, and the United States.
ABEMA Live allows users to purchase (*1) and watch (*2) various pay-per-view content from overseas, such as concerts, plays, sports events, fashion shows, etc., featuring famous artists from Japan and Asia.
Since the service launch in January 2024, "ABEMA Live" has been streaming a variety of prominent events to the world. These include 'ONE 165: Superlek vs. Takeru,' hosted by ONE Championship, one of the world's largest martial arts organizations; the 'Sonic Symphony' concert featuring SEGA's game and mascot "Sonic the Hedgehog"; the special live event 'MIKU FES'24 (Spring) Happy 16th Birthday' celebrating the 16th anniversary of Hatsune Miku's debut; the first real-life event by the Virtual YouTuber unit hololive Gamers, 'hololive GAMERS fes. Cho-Cho-Cho-Cho GAMERS'; and the pro-wrestling event 'ALL TOGETHER' organized by the United Japan Pro-wrestling (UJPW). Through these events, ABEMA Live has continuously delivered leading Asian content and Japan-originated entertainment to a global audience.
The newly added AI multilingual subtitling feature on ABEMA Live will display subtitles using AI in the selected language during the viewing period （*3), allowing you to enjoy a variety of content in the language of your choice. （*4) As of Tuesday, July 16, 2024, the feature is available in South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, and the United States. （*5) It plans to gradually expand the area it provides services to. 'hololive GAMERS fes. Cho-Cho-Cho-Cho GAMERS' is currently in the viewing period, and the new feature is available until 23:59 on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
ABEMA Live aims to bring various attractive Asian entertainment such as concerts, plays, sports events, fashion shows, etc. to a global audience with ABEMA's technological capabilities that enable stable and high quality streaming.
(*1) Credit card, PayPal, and PromptPay (QR code payment system for Thailand) payments are accepted. Additional payment methods will be gradually added as service areas expand. In addition, a separate fee will be charged for purchases made through the app.
(*2) Viewing tickets cannot be purchased in other countries, including Japan.
(*3) Some manual adjustments might be made in order to improve the accuracy of subtitles.
(*4) Languages in which subtitles are provided vary depending on the program. 'hololive GAMERS fes. Cho-Cho-Cho-Cho GAMERS' is available in English and Korean.
