Innovation Mile 2024

Science and technology at the Innovation Mile 2024

Visitors of all ages were able to experience technology and science up close at the dahme_innovation "Innovation Mile" in Wildau on June 29. Last Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., for the second time, the dahme_innovation regional network invited all interested parties to get to know the technology and science network around Schönefeld, Zeuthen, Wildau and Königs Wusterhausen, experience science up close and try out technology. Over 30 companies and research institutions from the Dahme region presented themselves and their work around the LOK 21 and along the university ring road in Wildau and took the almost 3,000 visitors on an exciting journey of discovery.

See, touch and try

Around the exhibitors' tents, curious visitors were able to put their knowledge and skills to the test in various competitions, try out virtual reality applications, experience 3D printing, take a test ride on a Segway® or experiment with a vacuum laboratory.

As part of a varied stage program moderated by Dr. André Lampe, visitors also learned more about how AI can support preventive healthcare, which materials are used to make wind turbine rotor blades both light and stable and how umbilical cord blood can help to cure tumours. Young and old alike were also able to gain insights into digitalization projects in the region, take a journey through the cosmos and learn how a traffic light works as part of the Children's University.

Airport company on site with flight simulator and bouncy castle

The Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) team also provided several attractions for visitors at its booth. In addition to the popular BER bouncy castle for the younger guests, FBB offered visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of flying with the help of the Icaros VR flight simulator. In addition to many valuable discussions, residents of the airport region had the chance to win one of the popular BER promotional items at the grab-and-go machine. The airport company is very pleased that the second Innovation Mile was also a success and that the company was able to make a contribution to this with its offer.
