Bern, 12.11.2024 - On 12 November, President Viola Amherd, head of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) and Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER), will receive Sweden's Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin in Bern for an exchange on current security policy issues.
At the meeting between Ms Amherd and Mr Bohlin, they will discuss the current security situation and the consequences of Russia's attack on Ukraine using hybrid warfare. The talks will focus on strengthening defence capabilities and building the population's resilience against influence activities and disinformation.
Cybersecurity will also be on the agenda of the exchange. During a visit to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Mr Bohlin will be shown how the public administration, the private sector and researchers are working together to strengthen Switzerland's resilience to cyberthreats. In addition to the organisational structure of the NCSC, the National Cyberstrategy (NCS) and the current threat situation will be discussed.
Following this visit, Mr Bohlin will be briefed by Mr Parmelin on the measures taken with regard to national economic supply (NES) in response to the change in the security situation in Europe.
During his visit to the Federal Office for National Economic Supply (FONES), Mr Bohlin will also gain a deeper insight into the work of the office and how Switzerland's NES is based on a close partnership between the state and the private sector.
